 New Family Programs
New Family and Student Welcome Programs
At IHMCS, it’s important to us that new families at the school feel a part of our community as soon as possible and new students have a fun and easy transition. To meet this goal, IHM provides several programs designed to help new students and their families make early connections within the community. These programs are outlined below:

Good Shepherds Program: (for new Kindergarten through eighth grade students and their families) The goal of the Good Shepherds program is to provide a warm, caring, inclusive experience for all transitioning students, while offering our current students the opportunity to model Jesus by participating as student mentors (i.e. Good Shepherds). The Program includes summer play dates, group activities with existing students and ways for parents to make connections during the summer. We’ve been very pleased with the success of this program, offering the new students the opportunity to make friends and see familiar faces for that first day of school. In addition to helping the new students, Good Shepherd families are also available to answer the parent’s questions about the upcoming school year.
Kindergarten Roundup Program: The goal of the Kindergarten Roundup program is to provide parents an opportunity to learn more about the school and give new kindergarten students a chance to meet Kindergarten teachers, meet other students, and to become more familiar with the classroom(s). Kindergarten Roundup is usually held in April.
New Family Informational Meeting: IHMCS holds a New Family Informational Meeting the Tuesday evening before school starts to meet and greet all of the new parents. During this meeting, the principal is able to meet the new families and explain a bit about the school. Other speakers also share more information and tips for new families.
