Leagues, Clubs and other Extra-curricular
At IHM we offer many other opportunities for students to explore learning beyond the classroom curriculum. The exact activities offered each year will vary. Some of the Extra-curricular activities we’ve had include:
(Exact activities may vary each year)
Chess Club: Chess Club meets once a week on Friday mornings before school and is open to all students.
Spanish Club: Spanish Club meets once a month and is open to all students. The purpose of the Spanish Club is to provide interested students with an opportunity to extend their classroom experience with a balance of language and culture. There are always Hispanic refreshments, music and some activity such as an art project, craft, game or video.
Math League: Sixth through Eighth Grade students can join Math League and travel to other schools to compete in timed math competitions.

“Model United Nations was a great experience. I met a lot of people and I learned a lot about other countries’ issues.” - Christina C. (student)

Model United Nations: This club meets twice a month to learn about the United Nations, its history, procedures, and results. Students are prepared to participate in the Minnesota YMCA Model United Nations, held annually in mid-March, in which students create a working replica of the United Nations.
Spelling Bee: This is the spelling bee that makes the national press each year. Fifth through Eighth Graders compete within the school, and winners represent the school in regional and perhaps, statewide competitions.
