History
Immaculate Heart of Mary Parish has sponsored and supported a Catholic school program of academic excellence and spiritual formation for over 50 years.
Grounded in the very best of the Catholic tradition, our high academic standards and achievements, coupled with the dedication of parents, students, educators, pastors and the Catholic community make IHM Catholic School a vibrant model of the Living Gospel in action!
The first Catholic school was started with four Sisters from the Order of Servants of the Immaculate Heart of Mary in 1952 with six grades and 97 students. For several years Mass was held in the basement of the school. Then in 1960, an addition to the school, a gymnasium, and the church was completed. In 1995, IHM School consolidated with St. John’s and St. Joseph’s parishes in Hopkins to form John Ireland School, maintaining a Pre-K through 4th grade program at IHM. In 2000, the existing Church was completed and several improvements were made to the education facilities. Then in 2003, the deconsolidation of John Ireland School gave IHM Parish the opportunity to establish a Pre-K through 8th grade Catholic School program all at the IHM location.
Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School was re-established as a single Parish School in 2004. To build on the school’s tradition of excellence and to accommodate the growing demand for Catholic Education in this area, IHMCS renovated and expanded their existing school facility in 2004.
Come be a part of our future!
