Supporting Our Community

The vision at Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic School is to minister to the whole family. In addition to student service projects, IHMCS is known for having a very active  parent volunteer community, providing connections that develop into life-long friendships.

Student Service Projects

Our students and staff live their Catholic faith by actively participating in community service projects, reaching out to the community in many ways. Service projects vary by grade and include the following:

Thanksgiving Food Drive benefitting the ICA Food Shelf

Advent Service Project
Students collect items that are of need and benefit local groups providing services/aid to children and families such as Sojourner Residence, Minnetonka Life Care Center, Minnesota Crisis Nursery and PRISM.

Eighth Grade Service Project
Under guidance of their teachers, students research groups and present to each other various charities they are interested in, ultimately choosing a benficiary of their class project. Past projects include spaghetti dinners, pie sales and chocolate chip cookie sales, benefitting organizations including Operation Smile, Heifer and Feed My Starving Children.

Catholic Schools Week Service Project
Students gather birthday gifts and items assisting parents in need to provide a birthday celebration for their children. “Birthday Boxes” and gift bags assembled by our students have been donated to Mary’s Place and Cheerful Givers.

Lenten Service Project
During the Lenten season, our students have collected food for the ICA Food Shelf, and participate in alms giving. Each year a group is selected with immediate needs. In 2011, donations were given to the Twin Cities chapter of the Red Cross to help fire and flood victims in Minnesota.

Friday Night Live
IHMCS staff host an evening of activities for students with proceeds benefiting the Blessed Mother Scholarship Fund.

Pennies For Patients
Students collect pennies to be donated to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society.
